Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Michael Angarano, Josh Hartnett, and Kenneth Branagh are among the supporting actors. The movie is a collaboration between Universal Pictures, Syncopy Inc., and Atlas Entertainment, and Nolan, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven are producing it.
Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the movie industry in December 2020, Warner Bros. Pictures announced plans to give its 2021 films simultaneous releases in theatres and on HBO Max. Nolan expressed his disbelief with the decision, and media reports suggested his upcoming film might not be financed or distributed by Warner Bros. In September 2021,
it was revealed that Nolan would write and helm a biographical picture on J. Robert Oppenheimer that would be set during World War II, with Universal Pictures being selected as the release partner. A month later, Johnson-McGoldrick agreed to pen the script, and Wan was announced as the film's director beginning in August 2020. In June 2021, he revealed the title of the sequel and promised that it would expand on Aquaman's worldbuilding. Filming took place in the UK, Hawaii, Los Angeles, and New Jersey from the end of the month to the beginning of January 2022.
The release date of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been set for December 25, 2023, following many post-production, financial, and COVID-19 pandemic-related delays.

The Flash will finally be published in the US on June 16, 2023, after a number of delays brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic, director changes, and post-production difficulties. A follow-up is being created.
